Races with weights allocated to stronger horses according to their previous results and number of races won. The better their previous results, the heavier the weight they have to carry.

There is a scale of handicap races, each with different restrictions or conditions that determine which horses are eligible for participation. The lowest level handicap race (where DigiTurf.com horses may be eligible even though they have won relatively few races) is known as a Class E Handicap, while the highest level handicap race (where horses are only eligible if they have won a number of races) is a Class A Handicap.
